ἀπόκειμαι; to be laid away, laid by, reserved (ἀπό as in ἀποθησαυρίζω (which see), ἀποθήκη);

a. properly: Luk 19:20.

b. metaphorically, with the dative of person, reserved for one, awaiting him: Col 1:5 (ἐλπίς hoped-for blessedness); 2Ti 4:8 (στέφανος); Heb 9:27 (ἀποθανεῖν, as in 4Ma 8:10). (In both senses in Greek writings from Xenophon down.)
