ἀπόδειξις, ἀποδείξεως, ἡ (ἀποδείκνυμι, which see) (from Herodotus down);

a. a making manifest, showing forth.

b. a demonstration, proof: ἀπόδειξις πνεύματος καί δυνάμεως a proof by the Spirit and power of God, operating in me, and stirring in the minds of my hearers the most holy emotions and thus persuading them, 1Co 2:4 (contextually opposed to proof by rhetorical arts and philosophic arguments — the sense in which the Greek philosophers use the word; (see Heinrici, Corinthierbr. i., p. 103f)).
