1. transitive, to finish; to bring to an end or close: τόν βίον, to finish life, to die, often from Aesehyl. and Herodotus down.
2. intransitive (cf. Buttmann, § 130, 4) to have an end or close, come to an end; hence, to die, very often so from Aeschylus and Herodotus down (the Sept. for îåÌú), and always in the N. T.: Mat 2:19; Mat 9:18; Mat 22:25; Mar 9:41; Mar 9:46 ((these two vss.
