1. to lay hold of: τινα τῆς χειρός, Act 3:7 (Theocritus, 4, 35).
2. to take, capture: fishes, Joh 21:3; Joh 21:10; θηρίον, passive, Rev 19:20 (Son 2:15). to take i. e. apprehend: a man, in order to imprison him, Joh 7:30; Joh 7:32; Joh 7:44; Joh 8:20; Joh 10:39; Joh 11:57; Act 12:4; 2Co 11:32. (Compare: ὑποπιάζω.)
