1. transitive, to set in rapid motion, stir up, incite, urge on; so from Homer down.

2. intransitive, to start forward impetuously, to rush (so from Homer down): εἰς τί, Mat 8:32; Mar 5:13; Luk 8:33; Act 19:29; ἐπί τινα, Act 7:57.
