1. to take up, raise: εἰς τόν οὐρανόν, Mar 16:19; Act 1:11; Act 10:16 (the Sept. 2Ki 2:11); without case, Act 1:2; Act 1:22; 1Ti 3:16 (cf. Winer’s Grammar, 413 (385)) (Sir 48:9).
2. to take up (a thing in order to carry or use it): Act 7:43; Eph 6:13; Eph 6:16. to take to oneself: τινα, in order to conduct him, Act 23:31; or as a companion, 2Ti 4:11; or in Act 20:13 f, to take up namely, into the ship.
