ἀνακαλύπτω: (passive, present participle ἀνακαλυπτόμενος; perfect participle ἀνακεκαλυμμένος); to unveil, to uncover (by drawing back the veil) (equivalent to âÈÌìÈä, Job 12:22; Psalm 17:16 (): κάλυμμα ... μή ἀνακαλυπτόμενον the veil ... not being lifted (literally, unveiled) (so WH punctuate, see Winers Grammar, 534 (497); but L T Alford etc. take the participle as a neuter accusative absolutely referring to the clause that follows with ὅτι: it not being revealed that, etc.; (for ἀνακαλύπτω in this sense see Polybius 4, 85, 6; Tob 12:7; Tob 12:11); see Meyer at the passage), is used allegor. of a hindrance to the understanding, 2Co 3:14 (ἀνακαλύπτειν συγκάλυμμα, Deu 22:30 Alex.); ἀνακεκαλυμμένῳ προσώπῳ with unveiled face, 2Co 3:18, is also used allegor. of a mind not blinded, but disposed to perceive the glorious majesty of Christ.
