εὐαγγελιστής, εὐαγγελιστοῦ, ὁ (εὐαγγελίζω), a Biblical and ecclesiastical word, a bringer of good tidings, an evangelist (Vulg.evangelista). This name is given in the N. T. to those heralds of salvation through Christ who are not apostles: Act 21:8; Eph 4:11; 2Ti 4:5. (B. D. under the word .)
