διασῴζω: 1 aorist διέσωσα; 1 aorist passive διεσώθην; in Greek writings from Herodotus down; often in the Sept., especially for îÄìÇÌè and äåùÄÑéòÇ ; to preserve through danger, to bring safe through; to save, i. e. cure one who is sick (cf. our colloquial, bring him through): Luk 7:3; passive Mat 14:36; to save i. e. keep safe, keep from perishing: Act 27:43; to save out of danger, rescue: Act 28:1; ἐκ τῆς θαλάσσης, ibid. 4; — as very often in Greek writings (see examples in Winer’s De verb. comp. etc. Part v., p. 9f) with specification of the person to whom or of the place to which one is brought safe through: πρός Φήλικα, Act 23:24; ἐπί τήν γῆν, Act 27:44; εἰς τί, 1Pe 3:20.
