a. as accusative, in poetry backwards 23 t. ( = prose אֲחֹרַנִּית) with verbs such as נָפַל fall Gen 49:17, נָשׂוֺג be turned 2Sam 1:22 (|| תָּשׁוּב רֵיקָם), שׁוּב Ps 9:4; Ps 56:10 +, נָסוֺג Ps 35:4; Ps 40:15 + (of enemies repulsed), Ps 44:19; Isa 50:5 (from obedience to God), נָזוֺר Isa 1:4, הֵשׁיב Isa 44:25; Ps 44:11, הִכָּה Ps 78:66 behind (opposed to קֶדֶם) Ps 139:5; Job 23:8 in the phrase פָּנִים וְאָחוֺר in front and behind 1Chr 19:10 (altered from ׳ וּמֵאָ ׳ מִפָּ in 2 Samuel see below) 2Chr 13:14; Ezek 2:10.
