a. to loosen, slacken, relax.

b. to let down from a higher place to a lower: τί or τινα, Mar 2:4; Luk 5:4; Act 27:17; Act 27:30 (in these last two passages in a nautical sense, to lower); τινα ἐν συριδιδ, Act 9:25; passive, 2Co 11:33.
