Σαρών, Σαρωνος (so Tdf.; but L WH accusative Σαρῶνα, Tr Σαρῶνα; cf. Buttmann, 16 (14)), ὁ (Hebrew ùÈÑøåï for éÀùÈÑøåï from éÈùÇÑø ’to be straight’; (in Hebrew always with the article äÇùÈÑøåï, ’the level’)), Sharon (so R. V.; but A. V. Saron), a level region extending from Caesarea of Palestine (Strato’s Tower) as far as Joppa (about 30 miles); it abounded in pasturage and was famous for its fertility (Isa 33:9; Isa 65:10; 1Ch 27:29): Act 9:35.
