ἀνακόπτω: 1 aorist ἀνέκοψα; to beat back, check (as the course of a ship, Theophrastus, char. 24 (25), 1 (variant)). τινα followed by an infinitive (A. V. hinder), Gal 5:7 Rec., where the preceding ἐτρέχετε shows that Paul was thinking of an obstructed road; cf. ἐγκόπτω.
