μώλωψ, μώλωπος, ὁ (Hesychius τραῦμα καί ὁ ἐκ αἱματώδης τόπος ἤ καί τά ἐξερχομενα τῶν πληγῶν ὕδατα), a bruise, wale, wound that trickles with blood: 1Pe 2:24 from Isa 53:5 (where A. V. stripes). (Gen 4:23; Exo 21:25; Isa 1:6. Aristotle, Plutarch, Anthol., others.)
