"simple_summary": "Pharaoh has two troubling dreams, but Egypt’s wise men cannot explain them. Joseph says God has shown Pharaoh what will happen. He explains that seven years of plenty will be followed by seven years of famine. Pharaoh then gives Joseph authority over Egypt, and Joseph stores grain so the land can survive the famine.",
"simple_explanation": "Pharaoh dreamed of seven healthy cows being eaten by seven thin cows, and of seven full heads of grain being swallowed by seven thin heads. No one in Egypt could explain the dreams. The cupbearer then remembered Joseph, who had once interpreted dreams in prison.\n\nJoseph was brought before Pharaoh. He said clearly that the answer did not come from him, but from God. He told Pharaoh that both dreams had the same meaning: God was showing him seven years of abundance, followed by seven years of severe famine. Joseph also gave wise counsel. He told Pharaoh to appoint a man over the land and store grain during the good years.\n\nPharaoh recognized that the Spirit of God was in Joseph and placed him in charge of Egypt. Joseph stored grain during the years of plenty. When the famine came, Egypt had food, and people from many lands came to buy grain.",

"gods_plan_connection": "God is preserving the family of promise through Joseph’s rise in Egypt. The famine will bring Jacob’s household into Egypt and prepare the way for later events in the covenant story. Joseph’s suffering and exaltation are part of God’s careful providence, not random chance.",
"simple_application": "This chapter teaches believers to trust God’s rule over delays, troubles, and the future. It teaches humility, because true wisdom comes from God. It also calls for wise planning, faithful work, and careful stewardship when God gives light. We should not expect every servant of God to be promoted like Joseph, but we should trust God to use suffering for his purpose.",
