"simple_summary": "Ezekiel 36 says that God will restore the desolated land of Israel and bring his people back. He will do this not because they deserve it, but because his holy name has been dishonored among the nations. The Lord will also cleanse his people, give them a new heart, put his Spirit within them, and lead them into real obedience.",
"simple_explanation": "This chapter begins with promise to the mountains and ruined places of Israel. The land had been shamed and taken over by enemies, but the Lord says he will reverse that shame. He will rebuild the cities, make the land fruitful again, and bring his people home.\n\nThe chapter also explains why God is acting. Israel had defiled the land with sin, idolatry, and violence. For that reason the Lord judged them and scattered them. Yet even in exile they brought dishonor on his holy name before the nations. So God says he will act for the sake of his own name, not because Israel has earned it.\n\nThe center of the passage is God’s promise of inner renewal. He will cleanse his people with pure water, remove their idols, give them a new heart, and put his Spirit within them. A heart of stone means stubborn resistance to God. A heart of flesh means a living heart that responds to him. This new work from God will lead to obedience.\n\nThe chapter also keeps sin in view. When God restores his people, they will remember their evil ways and be ashamed of them. Grace does not erase the seriousness of sin. It leads to humility.\n\nIn the end, the ruined land will be rebuilt and filled with life again. The nations will know that the Lord has done it.",

"gods_plan_connection": "This passage shows God’s plan to restore a judged and scattered people so that his holy name is honored among the nations. It also points forward to the deeper renewal God must give if his people are to obey him. In the wider Bible, this prepares for later new covenant promises of cleansing and Spirit-given obedience.",
"simple_application": "Do not treat outward success as the main sign of God’s favor. Ask whether your heart has been changed. This passage calls God’s people to humility, repentance, and trust in God’s mercy. It also warns that sin affects witness, because other people see how God’s people live.",
