"simple_summary": "Belshazzar mocked the holy things of God and honored false gods. At once, God sent a message of judgment. Daniel explained that the king had been weighed and found lacking, and that Babylon’s rule was ending.",
"simple_explanation": "Belshazzar held a great feast and used vessels taken from God’s temple for drunken praise. This was not a small mistake. It was open contempt for the holy God of Israel. Then a human hand wrote on the wall, and the king was terrified.\n\nBabylon’s wise men could not read or explain the message. That showed the limits of human wisdom. The queen mother remembered Daniel, the man God had used before. Daniel refused the king’s gifts and spoke with courage.\n\nHe reminded Belshazzar that God had humbled Nebuchadnezzar and that Belshazzar knew this lesson. Yet Belshazzar had not humbled himself. He had exalted himself against the Lord of heaven and praised lifeless idols. Daniel said that God had numbered the king’s days, weighed him, and found him lacking. His kingdom would be divided and given to the Medes and Persians. That very night Belshazzar died.",

"gods_plan_connection": "This chapter shows God ruling over proud empires and bringing them down at his appointed time. It prepares for the larger biblical theme that earthly kingdoms do not last, but God's kingdom does. Daniel's message also points forward to the truth that God alone gives final authority and will judge every ruler.",
"simple_application": "This passage warns us not to treat God lightly. Privilege brings responsibility. If God has given you clear warning from his Word, do not harden your heart. Fear him, honor what is holy, and remember that your life is not your own.",
